Panama will now recognize the sanitary registration of medications approved by the World Health Organization’s List of Authorities (WLA).
This provision is detailed in an executive decree published on Monday, January 13, in Panama’s Official Gazette.
According to the decree, prior laboratory analysis will no longer be necessary to obtain sanitary registration in Panama, provided the medication is already registered and marketed in WLA-recognized countries.
Requirements for registration include:
- Proof of payment of the service fee for expedited registration
- A completed form from the National Directorate of Pharmacy and Drugs under the Ministry of Health
- A legalized power of attorney certifying the legal representation of the pharmaceutical product holder
