United Nations tax convention paves the way for new taxation standards

The United Nations Organization (UN) has set the tone for new initiatives in tax policies. On November 22nd, the UN Tax Convention was approved, giving way to a new tax model for the region. The tax convention model proposed by the UN, approved with a total of 125 votes in favor last November, is a guide that allows countries to avoid double taxation through the establishment of new tax policies. According to our CENTRAL LAW partner in Panama, Alida Benedetti, this agreement seeks to promote investment and trade in Central America, and its adoption in domestic laws can help contribute to the economic development of Central America.

At CENTRAL LAW we have lawyers specialized in tax law in our offices, who have provided legal advice on tax matters to companies and individuals.
