With extensive experience in international arbitration and strategic mediation, he has led and designed dispute resolution processes grounded in efficiency, neutrality, and enforceability. He served as President of the International Mediation Center, affiliated with the Guatemalan-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he strengthened institutional frameworks for alternative dispute resolution and promoted high-level mediation practices across borders.
At the international level, he served as Agent of the State of Guatemala before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Guatemala v. Belize case—one of the most significant territorial disputes in Latin America—and represented Guatemala before the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA).
His profile is further distinguished by high-level diplomatic leadership. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala (2022–2024), leading foreign policy, strategic negotiations, and multilateral engagement. He also served as Ambassador to Israel and Mexico, and concurrently as Ambassador to Bulgaria and Cyprus, strengthening bilateral relations and advancing international positioning.
In academia, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Universidad San Pablo de Guatemala, contributing to the development of future legal professionals and institutional legal thought. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA).
