Every March 8th, the world commemorates International Women’s Day, a date to reflect on the progress and challenges in the fight for gender equity. In the legal field, women have faced significant barriers but have also established themselves as key figures in the promotion of justice and law.
To honor this occasion, we have gathered the stories and thoughts of distinguished female attorneys from our firm, who have shared their inspiration, achievements, and advice for future generations of legal professionals.

What inspired you to study law?
My inspiration to study law came from two key figures in my life: my father, Rafael Quirós, who founded Regional Central Law in 2003 with the mission of providing comprehensive legal counsel, and my brother, Tomás Quirós, an exceptional lawyer and one of the few in Costa Rica to earn an LL.M. from Columbia Law School. Their leadership, generosity, kindness, and respect deeply influenced my decision. Seeing how they positively impact society through law motivated me to follow in their footsteps and contribute through my own effort and dedication.
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?
My greatest professional achievement has been combining my background in Business Administration and my Master’s in Tourism and Hospitality to address the legal migration needs of foreigners in Costa Rica. Through my ability to connect with people, I have provided effective support for legal migration requirements, facilitating the adaptation and regularization process for those seeking to establish themselves in the country. This accomplishment reflects my commitment to migrants’ well-being and my ability to apply my knowledge in a practical and humane manner.
What advice would you give to future generations of female lawyers?
Never lose sight of the importance of ethics, empathy, and continuous learning. Law is not just about interpreting statutes; it is about understanding the human realities behind each case. Stay committed to justice and professional values, always acting with respect and seeking solutions that benefit society as a whole. Additionally, I encourage constant learning and adaptation, as law is a dynamic field that requires ongoing updates and growth.

What inspired you to study law?
My mother.
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?
Without a doubt, my greatest achievement as a lawyer has been inspiring and guiding my students in their professional development. As a professor at Universidad Latina de Panamá and Universidad Interamericana de Panamá, I have had the invaluable opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences with those who represent the future of our profession.
I believe that teaching law goes beyond theory; it is about instilling fundamental values such as transparency, honesty, and discipline—principles that, when applied with conviction, can lead any professional to great success. Engaging with my students, listening to their concerns, and sharing both the triumphs and challenges of legal practice has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.
Seeing them grow academically and professionally, knowing that I have contributed in some way to their development and motivation, is what truly brings me satisfaction. For me, teaching is not just a complementary role to my legal practice—it is a true vocation that reinforces my commitment to excellence in legal education.
What advice would you give to future generations of female lawyers?
Build your career on a foundation of transparency, ethics, and discipline. Law is not just a profession; it is a great responsibility that demands commitment, perseverance, and, above all, integrity.
I encourage you to never stop learning and updating your knowledge, as the legal world is constantly evolving. Preparation and knowledge are powerful tools, but what will truly make you stand out is your ability to act with justice and honesty in every case you handle.
Additionally, develop leadership and empathy skills, because practicing law is not only about applying regulations, but also about understanding people and their realities. Always maintain your passion, face challenges with determination, and remember that success in this profession is not measured solely by individual achievements but by the positive impact you create in society.
