The Parliament of El Salvador amended the Crecer Juntos Law for the Integral Protection of Early Childhood, Childhood and Adolescence, which has been in force since 1 January 2023.
The amendments include the obligation of the employer to pay the worker the average cost of the services of a duly authorised Early Childhood Care Centre (CAPI in spanish), to guarantee benefits for their children up to 4 years of age. The CAPIs will replace the crèches that companies were supposed to install, but the measure was rendered ineffective after repealing the Special Law for the Regulation and Installation of Crèches for Workers’ Children.
