In <\/span><b>2023<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>Panamanian government<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> issued <\/span><b>Executive Decree No. 6<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which regulates the categories of <\/span><b>work permits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for migrants, distinguishing between <\/span><b>investors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>foreign workers from friendly nations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This legislation aims to provide a <\/span><b>clear and controlled framework<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the <\/span><b>foreign workforce<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, facilitating the integration of migrants into the <\/span><b>formal labor market<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Panama\u2019s approach to <\/span><b>labor migration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> seeks to ensure that <\/span><b>migrants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can access <\/span><b>formal employment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while respecting their <\/span><b>rights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and contributing to the <\/span><b>country\u2019s economic development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At the same time, <\/span><b>supervisory and protection mechanisms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been established to <\/span><b>prevent labor exploitation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and promote the <\/span><b>inclusion of migrants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Panamanian society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>General Conclusions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>reforms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> currently under discussion in the <\/span><b>National Assembly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, both regarding the <\/span><b>Social Security Fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Ministry of Labor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, are <\/span><b>fundamental steps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> toward ensuring a <\/span><b>fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable Panama<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. By modernizing the <\/span><b>labor market<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, protecting <\/span><b>workers&#8217; rights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and improving <\/span><b>social security<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the country is progressing toward a future where <\/span><b>equal opportunities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>better quality of life<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are accessible to all citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of these reforms will be <\/span><b>key<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensuring <\/span><b>Panama\u2019s sustained economic growth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and its ability to face future challenges.
